Repurposing Pickering
On behalf of OPG, HSAL partnered with a multi-disciplinary team along with Candesco and Deloitte with the objective of developing a viable vision for how to repurpose the lands of the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station that would become available for development during decommissioning. HSAL was responsible for land-use analysis and designing and executing the public engagement process that included a number of public information events, a series of youth engagement workshops, a technical advisory committee, and a stakeholder advisory committee.

Erin Urban Centre Wastewater Class EA
The Town of Erin is preparing to construct the town's first ever wastewater system and treatment plant. HSAL and the Ainley Group, were retained to complete the Class EA for the town. HSAL is responsible for leading the public consultation program, including facilitation of stakeholder meetings and running public information events.

Simcoe County OP Update OMB Process for Greenlands Policies
HSAL was retained to lead the consultation and facilitation process for a series of planning experts meetings regarding the OMB hearing on the Greenlands policies in the updated Simcoe County Official Plan. Issues of growth management, Greenlands protection, settlement boundaries, and transition policies were the primary focus. With HSAL's assistance all policy and mapping issues were resolved prior to the OMB hearing, with only minor property boundary discussion remaining that will be resolve through local OPs.

East Harbour - Redevelopment of Former Unilever Site in Toronto
HSAL was retained by First Gulf to manage stakeholder mapping and the stakeholder engagement process, as well as facilitate community workshops to give area residents an opportunity to provide early input on the process, vision, and design considerations going forward. A key goal was to help the community understand and provide input on the potential social, economic, and transportation impacts of the project.

Scarborough Community Renewal Campaign
HSAL led a successful campaign to promote community well-being through improved economic development, social development, urban planning, arts and culture, and healthcare. Stakeholder engagement involved residents, businesses, institutions, academics, and community groups.

Enterprise Saint John Benefits Blueprint Program
HSAL was retained by Enterprise Saint John to a create a "Benefits Blueprint" - a sustainable growth management plan for Saint John New Brunswick. The goal was to put an action plan into place that would ensure growth occurred in a way that would benefit the most people across the province with new investment and infrastructure spending throughout the community.

Woolwich Economic Development Plan
HSAL, in association with Economic Growth Solutions and EDP Consulting, were retained to prepare an economic development plan for the Township of Woolwich. HSAL was responsible for leading the community dialogue process. A number of consultation activities were undertaken including multiple public information meetings, a stakeholder committee, a youth workshop, as well as focus group meetings with key business sectors.

Portlands Energy Centre
HSAL was retained by the Portlands Energy Centre to provide community relations support. This included: facilitating a Community Liaison Committee; providing planning support for emergency preparedness activities; developing an Ecological Sustainability Strategy and communications support to maintain a positive corporate presence in the community.

Ashbridges Bay Treatment Plant M&T Class B EA
HSAL was retained by Black & Veatch to complete a Socio-Economic Impact Assessment (‘SEIA’) of the proposed ABTP upgrade alternatives. The SEIA identified how local residents, businesses, institutions and right- of-way users will be affected by sewer works-related construction activities and recommended mitigation measures that will help to avoid or minimize effects during construction. Based on the SEIA, HSAL identified the alternative that would result in the least amount of socio-economic impacts on the surrounding community.
